THE EFFECT OF HOOF TRIMMING ON RADIOGRAPHIC MEASUREMENTS ON THE FRONT FEET OF NORMAL WARMBLOOD HORSES
From Dr. Stephen O’Grady’s Equine Podiatry website.
Conclusion
In conclusion, this study describes radiographic measurements of the front hooves of a defined population of Warmblood horses that had no recent history or obvious clinical signs of lameness. On both views (LM and DP), about 70% of the horses have larger and flatter hooves on the left side. In addition, these measurements accurately quantify the effect of trimming on the hoof conformation of horses aged between 6 and 12 years and with a withers height of 162 to 172 cm.
