This is a really tricky question. There are so many variables.
The first thing I would do is introduce you to the American Farrier’s Association Certification Guidelines Booklet.
I have actually re-designed this site to more center this very question.
That said, the most important thing is your horse’s soundness. Therefore, if the horse is consistently not sound after trimming or shoeing, the work may not be the best. Also, if it looks good and sensible, it probably is. Not all feet are going to match. Ask your farrier and veterinarian why that is, and consider their explanation. If it doesn’t make sense to you, it may be bad advice.
